Home Again

Edited to add: Holy crap, I make two appearances on the Harlot blog (that's me photographing a sock in the wild, too, and I love that she photographed me from the side because that's my thinnest angle.) If you're here from Steph's blog: Hi, thanks for linking!

I'm not sure I could create much in the way of nice linear thoughts right now; my brain ends are all frazzly. I have over 200 photos from the honeymoon and I'm working on getting them all uploaded. Obviously I'm not going to post 200 photos in a blog, but I will post those that you're interested in (read: my Harlot-stalking experiences, which continued well into Sunday) and link to the Flickr photoset for the rest.

Now, for some nice brain-friendly lists.

Things I Like:
*Saying "husband"
*Sleeping
*Travis taking up knitting again and starting his first sock
*Travis' hats (plural!) that he knitted
*The following conversation:
Harlot: Oh, where do you blog at?
Me: Blogspot - terribleknitknit.
Harlot: Terribleknitknit? I know who you are.
Me: *sound of my head hitting the concrete floor*

*Smarties (real ones, not the crappy ones we have in the US)
*Unbelievably wonderful Mormon folk who return the cell phone I left in their van during a tour of the temple square in Salt Lake City
*Having about 300 blog posts to cover - I'll be buried in Bloglines for a good long while.
*Taking a shower after 24 hours bouncing from airport to airport
*Having some FOs and half-FOs (a pair of socks and a half-pair of socks) to show for all the travel time

Things I Do Not Like:
*Getting up to go to work after a long time not doing that
*My house smelling kinda funny when I get home
*Throwing out smooshy things I'm pretty sure used to be veggies that rotted while I was gone and made the house smell kinda funny
*Brodie gaining a hundred or so pounds while we were gone. (He's big for his breed to begin with, but apparently he dealt with the loss of his family for a week by eating everything he could find. Someone in the neighborhood is missing their dog, and I'm worried Brodie might have eaten her.)
*Having not responded to a single comment in two weeks (though I love them all and thank you for all your wonderful sweet words and for making me laugh)
*No longer having someone make the bed each morning and turn down the sheets each night
*The cancellation of tonight's Lily Allen concert, to which I was SO looking forward.

Things That Amuse Me To No End:
*Travis muttering right before going to sleep, "I can't stop thinking about my sock."
*The Soup (I love you, Joel McHale!!)
*My cat crying to be let into the wool room now that I'm back
*The final picture I took of Stephanie on Sunday at the Knit-Out, where she looks like she really just wishes I'd stop taking pictures of her (I can't help it! She was wearing the Bohus, and I was smitten.)

Things I Spent Too Much Money On:
*The Knit-Out - I might have bought a few items. And by "few", I do mean several dozen. (But some of them aren't for me. And by "some", I mean two.)
*Ferry reservations (Turns out they're, essentially, completely unnecessary and just add 18 bucks to the cost of the trip, each way.)
*Booze - I think we drank more on this trip than we have in the last two years, collectively and combined.

Photos soon - I only have about another 50 to adjust and upload. Maybe tomorrow?

Wahoooo!!!

The weather is rather, um, less than pleasant in Victoria, so we've largely been relegated to indoor activities (spa stuff, knitting, 'net surfing, that sort of thing), but we did run out for breakfast and to the Beehive. And just in time...

Harlot sighting!!

Mere seconds after we popped out of the car and I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool if Steph was in there?" she bounced out of the shop and into the street to get a picture of the sock and the storefront! Travis spotted her and whipped around to see if I'd seen her too, but I was too busy clapping a hand over my mouth and trying not to freak out. I attempted to get a picture of her getting a picture of the sock (as seen above) and then just kind of stood on the sidewalk, tucked behind Travis with my camera and slobbering for a bit. (So much for my calm, cool, "celebrities are people, just like me" demeanor - apparently she's the exception. I didn't slobber on Gregory Peck, my favorite sighting...I gave him a cool "You're an American icon" nod and smile and moved briskly along.) Someone else spotted her and exclaimed, "You're her!" and chatted her up for a bit, stalling her and giving me time to gather myself up enough to take another picture.

Wanna see the picture that proves that she thinks I'm a crazy person?? You know you do!
Harlot thinks I'm crazy...

Yep! Look at the expressions here - I am clearly considered to be insane! Hurray! (It might have helped if I had stepped up, introduced myself, muttered an "I'm a knitter, too," or given any other kind of indication that I wasn't just a nutjob hiding behind my husband and peering around him to snap pictures of her like some sort of crazed fiberazzi.)

We get to see her talk tonight - hopefully she'll recognize me as the nut out front of Beehive and no longer feel like she was being stalked on the streets of Victoria.

I am so uncool.

Hurry!!!!

Everything is fantastic and beautiful in Honeymoonville!!! Susan (she of the awesomeness and the fantastic flowers) sent some pictures:

Presenting....

Told you it was a windy day!! But look how happy - I love this picture of him!

This is another favorite:

My mom and Travis

My mom and Travis - aren't they both stunning? I'm lucky in so many ways!!

Okay, this was a quickie in the "might as well post a couple of photos to the blog since I need to upload a ton of the honeymoon stuff to Flickr anyway" vein. Bye!!

K2tog

K2tog

We did it!

We didn't look like this when we did it - this is brunch today. The good stuff will be along - I have permission from the awesome photographer to post the photos when I have them, so I'll share...probably way too much. And yes, she got bunches of photos of the stockings! But just quickly - it was a total blast, everything went great, a good time was had by all - or if it wasn't, I didn't hear about it - and even though a tropical storm sprung up out of nowhere, it miraculously didn't rain a drop during the whole thing. Thirty mile an hour wind gusts made things interesting, but we laughed and cried and smiled the whole way through. It was bliss.

Gotta go pack for the trip!!

Eeeek!!!!

Tomorrow's the day!! OH MY!! I'm so excited, you guys.

And it's all done:

Groom's Socks

My brilliant friend Susan is putting together the most amazing florals right now (and we had a bit of a crisis with that, but I'll get into that later, maybe...) and things are good!

Thank you so much for the well-wishes and lovely thoughts - I'm sorry I haven't responded like I like to, but I know everyone understands. :-)

Groom's Socks

Stats, briefly: the groom's socks, in Regia Silk, on size 1 needles, quick-and-dirty garter rib, stockinette foot.

I'm off to get married. See you soon!

PS: If you're going to the Victoria Fiber Festival next weekend, please email me and maybe we can meet up - I should have email access!

Hugs!!! Knit on!!
