Happy New Year!
As is the way 'round here lately, I have nothing to show you. I have an FO, and I'll have more shortly (I'm about 75% finished with two different pair of socks). But in the meantime - it's the new year and Christmas was fabulous, as you well know. Not only that, it's now 2007, woot woot! We wanted the hell up out of 2006, see? There were the high points - knitting accomplishments and some babies (uh, not mine) - but there was the untimely illness and death of a very important person in my life; the death of my great-aunt - whose ring I'm now wearing; (understatement alert:) a tough patch with Travis; and my own cancer scare.
So we are THRILLED to see 2007, right? And in that I've won a contest and started planning a wedding, I'm feelin' 2007 pretty hard already.
Thought I'd hold a contest. Just 'cause I'm happy, and I want to see someone else all happy too. I needed some sort of inspiration, and with all the exciting girly things I'm doing lately, I thought of "I Enjoy Being A Girl". So leave me a comment and tell me why YOU enjoy being a girl. (Or about being a boy, if you're one of those.)
I'm keeping the time limit short on this, because I want participation, but I don't want to get posted on another one of those contest blogs. (I love when you guys send people over here from your own blogs, and that's cool - but my last contest ended up on some winfreeshit.com kind of thing, and that wasn't as cool.) So it's 6:30 on Tuesday night right now, I'm giving you until 10:00 Eastern tomorrow (Wednesday).
The prize? Something yarny, no doubt, and definitely fabulous.
But also....I picked up some more faboo nail decor today (new fixation)...and I might have picked up one more bottle of that super-hot polish from Chanel's Spring line. I probably don't really NEED two bottles, right? And as long as you promise to use it yourself or pay-it-forward to another girl who would love it - you win the contest, it's yours too! (BUT! You're on your honor to not sell it on eBay or anything like that.)
So do it! Leave one comment with one thing you love about being female.
For the final twist - I'm letting Travis pick the one he likes best. (I always fall back on that when I can't decide what to base my choice on. But now, still be honest about yourself and what you like about being a woman - "I love that I have boobies" might win, but try not to prey on his man-ness.)
I love the fact that I'm a smart, INDEPENDENT woman that WORKS and can mother all my rugrats at the same time AND STILL find time to knit, put on make-up and do my hair! :D
ReplyDeleteBy the way congrats! I love how everything fell into place for your wedding, if I ever get married I hope I have your luck. And love how you are working in the indie people
ReplyDeleteAnyways...I love being a knitting woman who's discovered this great knitting community! I love being a girl because I can wear cute summer dresses, pink nail polish, and, ah yeah...the boobies aren't too bad either :)
You really did have one helluva year didn't you. Here's to 2007!!
ReplyDeleteI laughed when I saw your competition. I was really not loving being a girl today, but realized my girly issues mean that I get to sit, knit and read blogs while Mr. B does his manly thing of putting together our dresser - I guess there's a bright side to everything eh?
PS. I'm not sure that's really an entry, just sharing too much information in safety of blogland :)
I love that I can be a teacher, an administrator, a lover, and (hopefully) a mother all in one day! :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved carrying a baby ;) Breastfeeding rocks, too.
ReplyDelete(PS! Don't enter me! I've won too much stuff in the last weeks, the karma needs ot light on someone else!)
I love being a girl because I can cross-dress and no one calls me on it! (Hey, mens' jeans are awesome, and it's not obvious like a guy wearing a skirt!)
ReplyDeleteI like being a woman because of the confidence that comes with it. You have to be confident to be a woman and I definitly got it whether I'm feeling hot or not so hot. KWIM. Being a woman is very powerful, and I carry myself as such. Besides every great Man is an even greater WOMAN. Also, to me, women represent wisdom. Wisdom being the wise words being spoken by a wise person. Whether as a woman we reflect the wise words of that great man by our side, or we reflect the wise words that come from years and experience of our ever so developing woman hood. I have no idea why you truly got me started ont his subject, I can go on for days.
ReplyDeleteBefore I leave, my condolences for your loss, and I'm glad those were only scares in your life. Remember what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. Try to learn something and make something good out of every non good that goes on in your life. You're a woman you can do it. Then again, you have to do it! To 2007! I'm glad 2006 is out of here too!

I love being a woman because it's all I know! I don't know what being a man is like. I also agree with Aija on the baby thing. It's nice, too, that when my little ones need something or are sick only Mommy will do -- no one else. (Til they hit their teens and then probably won't want anything to do with me!) Being a woman also means that we get to marry guys named Travis!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day. :)
I love having a woman's ability to multi-task. Who else could count rows, decrease, measure remaining yarn, pet the cat, yell at the kids and STILL help keep hubbie up to speed on current episode of Lost!
ReplyDeleteHe's just sitting there scratching his arse!!
Okay, maybe that one won't apeal to Travis, but it's my favorite :)
I have several reasons.
ReplyDelete~I love the wide range of everything that is open to me.
~I loved bearing my children and being "Mommy"
~I love the wide range of emotions that comes with being female(Men seem so black and white. I may be VERY wrong about this one but I really don't know a man that has felt more than 1 or 2 emotions at a time. Whereas I personally have actually felt as many as 5 or more all at once.)
~I love being curvacious(sp?)
~I love being flexible(no not just physically)
~I love having more understanding and patience than most men.
Ya know, looking at all of my reasons, I don't think that there is much that women have that men can't have. With the exception of bearing children a man can do anything that a woman does. It's just that most men don't. Because they either were raised not to(i.e. cry or feel emotional)or they just never thought to try(i.e. knitting etc.)
So I guess the only thing that I truly have over men is the ability to have kids and bleed for several days without dying. LOL. I don't know if that counts or not. Sorry if I grossed anyone out.

Being a girl rocks for all sorts of reasons, but I'll try to keep it short. I think that being able to pull off OPI's "I'm Really Not a Waitress Red" on your toes.
ReplyDeleteI love that as a girl I can wear all sorts of pretty clothing, dresses, skirts, cute jewelery and cute sandals but that at the same time I can wield a screwdriver and build IKEA furniture too!
ReplyDeleteI love being a girl, because I can ONLY imagine the way Men think. This was your life is absolutely full of surprises!
